Gallic wars legionary helmet

Interesting and in appearance clearly celtic form of helmet which,as it seems now, was the main type of head protection used by Caesar's legionaries in his Gaul campaigns.
Previously these helmets were considered by scholars(most probably falsely)that they belonged to celtic warriors only,but recent archaeological excavations seems to confirm their widespread use in the Roman army operating in Gaul as well.There were two basic types,lighter and heavier-this is heavier.Also this particular example got more elaborate decoration than most helmets would probably had.They had no crest,though exemplars with speciall atachment for it were found rather signifiing limited use of it by officers.
Of course,as always in the roman army also many other types would be used at the same time.You would certainly encounter especially Montefortino type of helmets in great numbers too.
